Ucards

Ucards

A few months ago I was hired by a friend to help write some phrases for a series of letterpress cards. Unlike most cards that you give out to people, which are bulky and lame, these cards are small and clever. They're called Ucards, and they look a little like this:

I didn't write this one. This card is is based on the original idea which inspired the set. But this prototype gives you an idea of what the final product will look like.

Notice the beautiful thick paper stock and the silver foil guaranteed to impress anyone who receives it. Their small size makes them ideal for passing discreetly under tables, in secret handshakes, and leaving on people's desks/tables. The idea behind Ucards is simple, create a small moment of joy with another live human being. This was my first real freelance job, and a lot of fun to work on. I tried to create cards that were complimentary without being saccharine, funny without being cliche, and short without being too simplistic.

Here are some mock-ups of ones I made:

The project was put on Kickstarter a few weeks ago and I just found out it reached it's funding goal. So when I tell you to get a set you know I'm doing it to because I believe in the quality of the product and not because I'm pushing to get it funded (or make money off sales because I already got paid for my work). And now if you donate $14.00 you know you are guaranteed to get a set of 10 cards. Check out the Kickstarter here

I didn't write all the sayings you'll see in this set, but eventually there will be a second and third set, and I wrote phrases for those as well.
