Man of Steel

I caught the third trailer for Man of Steel and besides the fact that Henry Cavil is stunning, this trailer is captivating. It opens with the soft music over the destruction of Krypton, Superman's parents discuss what it will mean for him to grow up on an alien world, and those questions are what this trailer (and hopefully movie) are about. We see the essential arc of Superman's childhood, discovering his heritage, trying to hide his nature, and the questions he must face. The music builds, Superman dons his iconic costume and he takes flight around the earth, which is breathtaking. There are some chaotic shots of General Zod, explosions, mid-air fighting, and the army arresting Superman to entice us with the inevitable super hero action which will follow. But we don't need to know who exactly Superman's enemies are, we need to know that this is the beginning of the story.
